Dr. David is perhaps one of the few people I have come across in the Antrhoposophical community who is absolutely unafraid to share his wrestling restlessness and hope for a creative good, knowing how problematic so many aspects of our striving are. He had the same slicing through to the raw core type attitude about culture as a whole in the world. Razor sharp about race politics and gender politics and always so embarrassingly funny about saying it like it is. This was my first concern upon hearing that David left the Earth in the physical, like “Who is gonna bring the salt?!” This dear friend really wove between the tenderest care and concern and the tough realities, though he never bore it on another that they weren’t free, he just had no shame in honoring what might not be comfortable to hear.
Hahaha, of course this was not always comfortable, but I was most often grateful to hear another side of the picture.
Dr. David brang the light with a snap! I experience him as full of juice. I will offer a thought connected with hopes spoken during his online memorial today, that yes he carries a deeply heart drenched hope for a thriving social life that heals and loves and holds and is awake to what is going on. A kind of living relationship that can walk anywhere and feel anything and does. Can we be brave and outrageous and funny and hang on there to help. Can we get our squirt bottles and soap and a little calendula and hit the streets and help some friends to wash their hands if they’d like.
I imagine for any friends able to speak with him in spirit, may his multi-layered revelations be potent and help us get a clue.
Maybe one more touching moment that struck me sweetly was in speaking with him a couple months ago about a project, we checked in and got on board and making plans, and some point he sent me a picture, the picture was a picture of me from a meeting a few years ago, something in that picture carried a gift, as if he saw who I was, saw me in my striving in that moment, and loved me, and took that picture with a heart to my journey. When he sent it to me, I felt there was someone looking out for me, who could see my true self! That brings a special kind of radiance to someone and a resonance within them, which I hope to offer for others in my life.
thank you! with love,
